The game's title screen
All Living Creatures (众生之门 Zhòngshēng zhī Mén, lit. "Gate of All Living Creatures") is a fictional virtual reality game that appears in The Legend of Luo Xiaohei webseries and is mentioned in The Legend of Hei movie.
In the game, players can take on the form of any living creature in the world. It is very popular both among humans and among elfins. A limited edition which grants its players special privileges was released prior to the game's official launch. The release was capped at 10 million copies to create exclusivity while still having a large player base.
The game was designed by Laojun[1] and distributed by Kali. It was created by the Elfin Guild in hopes of introducing elfins to humans and reintroducing humans to elfins.[2] Preparations for the game have been finished at least four years before its launch.[3]
Gameplay[]
Basic principles[]
The most controversial gameplay mechanic is that players who die in-game will lose all of their playing character's data, forcing them to start from scratch all over again after a 30-minute cooldown period. According to Kali, this mechanic was put in place to reflect the fact that any creature who dies in real life can never just go back to who they were at the time they died. It is a mechanic that will never change no matter the players' sentiments.
Elfin players retain their powers in-game and can use them even at lower levels, while human players are allowed to choose a power to develop for themselves as they level up.[note 1]
Killing other playing characters is allowed.
There is a random chance for a player to be asked to play as a boss upon starting the game. There is also an option to become an NPC at the very bottom of the systems menu.[2] Pursuing either path changes that player's game objectives to fulfil their new role. This implies that even "non-playing" monsters and characters are actually controlled by other players too.
Game start[]
Players are encouraged to lie down in a safe place before putting on the virtual reality gadget to ensure their body's safety in real life as they play the game.
Upon entering the game, players end up in a waiting room with MT, an NPC who explains the game's mechanics. Players with the limited edition version can choose which creature they would like to be in-game while regular players will be assigned a creature randomly when they enter the game. Players can also choose to change their appearance as they please.[note 2] Upon accepting conditions, players are teleported to a random part of the in-game map.
Upon dying, players are barred from entering the game again for 30 minutes, after which they can start over and create a brand new character in the waiting room, as their old one will be lost forever.[note 3]
Game controls[]
As a virtual reality game, the player's will controls the creature they're playing as. In-game, they have a greater stamina and more abilities than in real life, but they are also subjected to certain limitations of the species of their playing character, such as bird players being unable to talk to human players and wolf players sharing an HP pool with other wolf players witin 10 meters, thus making it unadvisable to attack their own kind.[1]
An in-game menu can be accessed to chat with other players, view and update stats, check and use abilities and stored items, and log out of the game.
Levels and experience[]
Everyone starts the game at level 1, but the base strength of a level 1 wild creature is comparable to the strength of a Level 30 human. However, it is believed that humans would eventually outpace the strength of non-human creatures in higher levels.[4] The current level cap seems to be 200.
Every level requires an amount of experience points (XP) equal to the level number. For example, level 3 requires three XP points, level 4 four XP points, and so on. However, because most experience is obtained from defeating other players, leveling up is difficult. You get 30% of your opponent’s total experience points, with 1 XP as the bottom line[5].
Killing another creature in-game is one of the fastest ways to gain experience. As every living creature in the game is also a player, even swatting at a mosquito grants experience. Once killed, a player will have to start from scratch all over again, as their character's death is considered final for that character just as it would have been in real life.
Another way to gain experience is to fulfil various game missions and side quests, which can vary per species, location, and game role.
Experience may be shared between party members.
Abilities and stats[]
Stat points can be put into any of the six great systems on the game menu screen. There are no set moves or any tutorials on how to use spiritual abilities, as control over them is dependent on the player's skill in manipulating their own spiritual power. This may present a learning curve for humans who've never cultivated their spiritual abilities before, unlike elfin who can naturally already control their own spiritual ability even before the game.[1] However, while elfins have a natural affinity for only one or two power types, there are some cases of humans who have managed to combine multiple power types seamlessly in their gameplay.[2]
Certain universal abilities can be unlocked by reaching milestone levels.[2]

Territories, factions, and red names[]
Players are naturally assigned to a faction based on the territory where they first spawn upon starting the game, and killing another player from the same territory would turn the display name of the killer red and permanently bar them from fulfilling certain game objectives. This does not apply when killing people from different territories or killing creatures of a different species. However, there is no natural way to tell which faction another person belongs to, so it's possible to kill a same-faction player and get a red name by accident.[4]
Players can create their own private faction as long as they have a minimum of three players. To create a faction, they must defeat either the NPC boss of an unclaimed territory or the faction leader of a claimed territory. The map shows which territories have already been claimed and which ones haven't been yet. Faction members get buffs in their own territory, with the faction leader becoming four times more powerful when within its bounds. Faction members can see non-members within their territory by checking the map from the game menu.[1]
If a faction leader leaves their territory, non-faction members who come to the territory can get the quest to hunt down that territory's leader, marking the leaders location on the map for them to pursue.
Logging out[]
Players can log out at any time and any place they want. When they log back in, they will spawn in the exact same location where they logged out. Some players have taken advantage of this by setting up traps or blocking another player's log out location, causing them to die once they log back in.[2]
Since the player will not be aware of their real life situation while inside the virtual game, the game console comes with a warning system to alert the player if their real life body is in danger. They are given the in-game option to let the game temporarily protect their body in real life and are prompted to log out as soon as they can to deal with the situation.[note 5]
Game features[]
Locations[]
Panlilas Mountain
Panlilas Mountain is the tallest mountain in the game. It is much taller than the highest mountain on Earth. Due to not being a real life mountain, the air pressure and temperature does not change as you ascend it. At the summit of the mountain is a stone marker that players need to touch to signify completing the game mission yo climb it, a feat that so far only 14 players have ever accomplished. It is possible to see almost the entire landscape of the game from the summit of this mountain.
Forest of Giant Trees
A forest of tall large trees, walking through this forest makes it look like night time even during the day.
Artifacts[]
There are 13 artifacts in the game, but only 11 have been discovered so far.[4]
Missions[]
Altought the game started without any missions, after a few days it was updated with 100 missions for players to complete.[6]. The last and presumably hardest mission is The Admiration of the Elfin King Folan. This mission can only be accepted by players who are level 1. The mission fails if you die before completing it, and you can't start it again with another character. In order to complete the mission, a player must fulfill this four requirements:[4]
- Reach level 200 as a human without getting a red name.
- Hunt down red name players leveled 60-200, two from each level.
- Finish all high level side quests.
- Obtain all 13 exclusive artifacts.
An elfin player named Xiaohei thinks that the missions may represent tasks that elfin executors have to complete in real life[6].

- The All Living Creatures Arc is the longest arc of the webseries so far, three times longer than all other arcs.
- Wuxian and Jiulao have implied that the entire game world might actually be somebody's spiritual realm,[7] which is something that A-Gen has also speculated about early on in the game. Xiaohei additionally speculates that if the game were indeed a spiritual realm, the landscape must be shrunk down and their avatars are miniscule manifestations produced by a creation type power.[2] It is not yet known whose spiritual realm it might be.
- MT's face is the icon of HMCH, the studio that produces the Luo Xiaohei franchise.
Notes[]
- ↑ For example, A-Gen and Xiaohei can still use their ice and space/metal powers respectively in-game, while Xiaobai chooses to have fire powers and Shanxin chooses healing.
- ↑ Some notable examples include Xiaohei changing his hair color back to black and Jiulao changing his whole appearance to look like a human.

- ↑ Demonstrated by a player whose house gets invaded by a burglar while he was playing. An emergency pop-up notification shows the player what the situation is like outside and offers to help with it. The player agrees, and the game console shoots a tranquilizer at the burglar as the player scrambles to log out. The burglar is later shown being apprehended by the police.
