Afterwards, Xiaohei ends very weakened, and Laojun gifts them the Blue-Jade plate, ending their adventure in the Blue Creek Town. Using the plate, A-Gen, Xiaobai and Xiaohei return to the remote mountain, where Xiaobai meets Bidiu once again.
Plot[]
Alone, Xiaohei in his true form fights against A-Xian and Moss. Meanwhile, A-Gen goes deep into some water, somewhere, that will allow him to reach Laojun mountain. Xiaohei is hit by wood from many directions, and eventually one of the attacks hits Xiaobai, who screams. Xiaohei manages to catch her, and A-Xian realizes by the sound of her voice that Xiaobai is human after all. Then, A-Gen appears and attacks them with ice. Inside the palace atop the mountain, Laojun is happily watching the fight unfold. A-Gen is surprised to see Xiaohei’s true form, and is relieved when he sees that Xiaobai wasn’t hurt. However, Xiaohei’s gone feral, and he attacks A-Gen. A-Xian and Moss try to take the chance to reach Laojun, but A-Gen doesn’t let them. By invoking a incredible amount of water, A-Gen manages to freeze everyone including Xiaohei, finally stopping the confclit. Completely stuck, A-Xian surrenders. Laojun thinks that it must be cool to be with A-Gen in summer.
After being unfrozen, A-Xian and Moss explain their actions: it was because two of Laojun’s vows. Laojun once said that whoever forced him to fight would be rewarded with the Xuanqing Pill, and that whoever entered the Suoyu Palace would be rewarded with the Qingling Fruit. A-Gen realizes that, once again, the entire conflict had been caused because Laojun had forgotten his own vows, and that he probably made them because he was feeling lonely. Laojun checks his vow records trying to find them, since he really forgot. Moss gives A-Gen the Huanling (Invocation) Stone, hoping Xuanli won’t bear any grudges against them. A-Gen is okay with them, since everything was because of Laojun’s vows, and says he’s the only who should be asking for forgiveness. They all make peace, and A-Xian and Moss leave the place, teleporting away. Xiaobai asks if they were bad guys, and A-Gen says he doesn’t know.
Back in his small cat form, Xiaohei sleeps in Xiaobai’s arms. Xiaobai asks if Xiaohei is also an elfin, and A-Gen confirms it. Xiaobai says she wasn’t scared, and that she knew Xiaohei was only trying to protect her. A-Gen explains to her that Xiaohei is now too weak, similar to how Bidiu was after turning giant. Xiaobai wonders if Bidiu is also an elfin, but A-Gen says no, that was just one of chamecavy’s physiological features. After hearing that, Xiaobai gets worried, and wonders what would happen if Bidiu transformed again in the forest, alone, with nobody to take care of him. She says that she misses him, but that she knows Bidiu is home now, and he must be happy. In the remote mountain, Bidiu is indeed happy and with a full belly, but he also wonders where everyone went.
Xiaohei, Xiaobai and A-Gen return to the palace where Laojun is. Laojun tells her that Xiaohei’s transformation worsened his old wound. Xiaobai wonders if that’s serious, but Laojun says no. Explaining it in game terms, his old wound had decreased his HP, and his transformation lowered his maximum HP value. Laojun has the ability to make him recover, but it’ll take some time, because he doesn’t specialize in healing. After treating his more immediate injuries, Laojun tells A-Gen he will teach him the healing spell. They’ll be allowed to leave, and if A-Gen applies the spell, Xiaohei will be able to heal within a month.
Reading through Laojun’s books of vows, A-Gen sees some of his vows:
- [No. 237] Whoever is able to collect all of the city plate decals will be awarded with Jinxuan Pills.
- [No. 238] Whoever can win three games in a row at Doushuai Palace will receive a statue of Laojun.
- [No. 239][Thirteenth year of Wuxian] Whoever is able to catch a Chicken of White Feathers and Dark Bones will be rewarded with Wuji Baifeng Pills.
A-Gen and asks Laojun why he made so many vows, to which Laojun answers that he did so because he was lonely. A-Gen says that that’s a very boring deity’s life. Laojun says that even his last vow was done many years ago, so he can’t recall all of them. A-Gen wonders if Laojun stopped making vows because he got Diting’s company, but no, it was because Laojun got internet to keep him company.
Xiaobai thinks of something, and asks Laojun if he knows the fairy Qingning. This shocks A-Gen, and Laojun takes a minute to think about it. He smiles, and says that that’s no more than a memory. Xiaobai wonders if that means Quingning rejected Laojun, but he refuses to answer.
Xiaobai asks if Laojun was born as a deity, and Laojun answers that no. He’s an elfin that was given the title of deity. A-Gen explains that for any wise creature mastering nature’s power, as long as certain conditions are met, they’ll be given the title of deity. Xiaobai wonders if a human can get it, and Laojun tells her that sure, the most powerful deity was a human, a guy that lived hundreds of years ago. Sadly, modern humans have almost lost their connection with the natural magical substances. However, the most powerful creature that currently exists is probably modern humans. But after saying that, Laojun decides he’s spoken too much. It’s late, and he offers to return Xiaobai home. Xiaobai asks if she could return later, to bring anime to Laojun. He laughs, and accepts the offer.
One of Laojun’s earrings flies off his ear, and he reveals it is his Blue-Jade plate, which he gives them as a gift. A-Gen, who knows how important the plate is, wonders if that’s okay, but Laojun insists. He tells them that seeing them made his day. The plate floats towards Xiaobai hands. Laojun explains to her that it will allow her to return to Laojun, and that Xuanli will teach her how to use it. Xiaobai thanks him for the gift, and promises to return from time to time. A-Gen tells her that she must not lose it. A-Gen says his goodbyes, and they leave.
By touching Xiaobai, who’s holding Xiaohei, the group teleport to a forest. It was the power of the Blue-Jade plate. A-Gen tells her that it needs time to recharge, so she needs to use it carefully. After seeing their surroundings, Xiaobai realizes they didn’t go home, but to the remote mountain where they had released Bidiu. A-Gen explains that their home was still covered in water, so they went there instead. Xiaobai wonders if Bidiu may have made any new friends. A-Gen tells her that it’s possible, but she’s not sure. Only few chamecavies were left, what if he’s still alone? A-Gen tells her to not worry, that Bidiu will be happy in the forest. A-Gen asks what if Bidiu gets lonely? Xiaobai wonders if she could get him back. She knows the forest is Bidiu’s home, but Laojun is always at home and he’s pretty bored, which makes A-Gen laughs. He asks what if Bidiu hurts her? Xiaobai answers that his brother and Xiaohei will protect her, and she’ll protect them. Smiling, A-Gen tells her that she makes sense, and will definitely make for a good pet owner. He tells her that Bidiu’s been waiting for her in the deep of the mountain, and it’s time to get him back. Xiaobai is really excited to hear that, and runs towards him.
Xiaobai calls for Bidiu, and he hears her. In his home, grandpa and uncle eat a watermelon. At the doorway, Diting waits for the door to Lanxi Zhen to open again. And in the remote mountain, Bidiu and Xiaobai meet once again. Waiting for her, A-Gen asks Xiaohei if he’s worried about how he’ll get along with Xiaobai now that she knows his secret. Opening his eyes, Xiaohei tells him that’s none of his business, which makes A-Gen laugh. Xiaohei asks A-Gen if he’s not worried Xiaobai could get in danger again with Bidiu. A-Gen says that he is worried, but that the emotion that comes from mutual care is worth being valued. Bidiu and Xiaobai hug for a long while. Bidiu, in his animal language, tells Xiaobai to not get lost again!
After the credits, a pair of dangerous-looking eyes open up…
