Fengxi (风息, Fēngxī) is the main antagonist in The Legend of Hei, and he appears in the Battle Records Super Story Movie Extra Manhua.

Fengxi lived peacefully with his friends in a forest, until the area was destroyed by human industrialization, and the forest turned into the city of Longyou. Since then, Fengxi hated humans and fought to retake the land from them. This turned him into an enemy of the Elfin Guild, a group who strived for peaceful coexistence with humans. After Fegnxi stole Xiaohei's Domain, which he tried to use to take control of Longyou city, Fengxi was stopped by Xiaohei and an Executor named Wuxian. Finally captured, Fengxi decided to take his own life and turned himself into a lush forest that he created in the middle of the city[1].

Appearance[]

In his human form, Fengxi has purple eyes and pointed ears. His long and fluffy purple hair falls over one eye, and two tufts stick out from the back of his head. He wears a modified purple hanfu with black sleeves, black pants, black shoes, and white socks. When he transforms into his true form, he becomes a black panther with a long mane.

History[]

Life in the forest[]

Spirit Gathering

Tianhu is born before Fengxi

Fengxi was an elfin who lived in a mountain forest alongside other elfins such as Luozhu and Xuhuai. [2] Life there was calm and peaceful, and Fengxi had no problems. At some point, humans arrived and started living in the forest. The humans were in awe of the elfins and even worshiped them, and Fengxi states that life was even amusing among them. [1]

One day, as Fengxi was eating at a restaurant named Old Li's, a young elfin rushed in to let him know there was a spirit gathering going on. The two ran to the mountains, where many Elfins, including Luozhu and Xuhuai, were watching the spirits gather. When Xuhuai detected people approaching, Fengxi blocked the entrance to the forest with branches, which the humans considered a message from god. Back at the gathering, the spirits coalesced into a new elfin, which Luozhu named Tianhu. [2]

Time progressed, and Tianhu grew alongisde Fengxi, Luozhu and Xuhai. However, the humans soon developed and began destroying more and more of the land to industrialize, causing many elfins to leave. Despite this, Fengxi stayed out of spite and tried to stop them from destroying his home further. This caused the Elfin Guild to arrive, an association created to maintain peaceful relations between elfins and humans. The Guild chose to stop Fengxi, who left with his crew, realizing that they were no match and outnumbered against them. The area soon developed to become the city of Longyou[1].

Modern times[]

Eventually, after roaming to find a place untouched by humans, Fengxi and his friends found an island, and settled down there. Fengxi became known as a troublemaker whose desdain for humans made him cross the line one too many times. The Guild tried to talk with Fengxi, but he refused, and became a wanted criminal. He became associated with two other elfins named A-He and Yezi[1].

One day, Fengxi located an elfin named Xiaohei who had the Domain ability, which allowed the user to create an external Spiritual Realm, essentially becoming a god in the real world. Realizing he could use this ability to re-gain control of Longyou, Fengxi approached Xioahei and tried to befriend him. Using A-He’s mind-control abilities, Fengxi manipulated some humans into attacking Xioahei, and Fengxi showed up to rescue him from his “attackers”. Xiaohei was a young elfin whose home had been destroyed as well, and who had no idea about the Guild. After “saving” him, Fengxi invited Xiaohei to live with him at the island, and the two travelled there using a portal[1].

Xiaohei spends his first night with Fengxi at the island

At the island, Xiaohei was warmly welcomed by Tianhu, Luozhu and Xuhai, and Fengxi was sure that Xiaohei was going to help them retake their home. However, the following morning, the island was attacked by Wuxian, a human Enforcer for the Guild who was looking to capture Fengxi. A fight started, and after Xuhuai lost an arm, everyone decided to escape through the portal. At the last second, however, Xioahei jumped at Wuxian, and didn’t manage to get in. Fengxi de-activated the portal from the other side, and Xiaohei was left trapped in the island with Wuxian[1].

The group went to an abandoned building they used as a hideout to think things through. Realizing Xiaohei had been captured by the enemy, Fengxi realized he would have to steal Xiaohei’s ability using Fengxi’s secret ability: to steal other people’s powers. Luozhu was worried about Hei, but Fengxi had a plan to get him back: he knew Wuxian was going to get Hei to the Elfin Guild, and he had a plan to stop him before he got there. Fengxi tasked his friends with locating Xiaohei, and left alone in order to begin stealing the power of multiple elfins, powers he would need to stop Wuxian and reunite with Xiaohei[1].

Fengxi began attacking different elfins. The first one was named Min, and was a spiritual-type elfin with a special ability known as Blare. Upon seeing him, Min was friendly to Fengxi, and offered him tea, but Fengxi was too focused on his mission. Min told him that sometimes it was okay to let go, but it was useless. Using his secret ability, Fengxi stole Min’s Blare ability from him, and left him knocked-out[1].

His next objective was a squirrel-like elfin named Huahu. He was a spiritual and creation-type, and had a special ability called Spirit Paint, which allowed him to bring to life anything he painted. Fengxi attacked Huahu inside a library where he worked disguised as a human. After a harsh battle, Fengxi was victorious, and stole Spirit Paint from Huahu[1].

His third objective was an elfin named Guilao. He was a spiritual-type elfin who had an ability called Remote Explosion, which Fengxi stole as well[1].

Soon afterwards, Xiaohei and Wuxian’s location was found by Fengxi’s friends: they were at Longyou city. Fengxi and all his friends attacked Wuxian at the same time, while Wuxian and Xiaohei were riding a subway train cart. After a harsh battle, Fengxi managed to capture Xiaohei, and the group ran away, leaving Wuxian behind[1].

Fengxi steals Xiaohei's Domain

Fengxi led Xioahei to a rooftop in the city. There, he explained to Hei that he wanted to take the city back, since it had been his home long ago. He told Xiaohei to remember that it had been the humans who had drove them out in the first place. Hei remembered… but didn’t think pushing them away was the right thing to do. Hei thought they could simply stay away from the humans, find another island… but Fengxi had heard enough. Fengxi didn’t mind living elsewhere, but at the end of the day, they would end up homeless, eventually. After that, Fengxi captured Hei with branches, and used a secret power to steal his Domain ability from him[1].

The Domain

The group was quickly found by Wuxian, who retrieved Xiaohei, but Fengxi managed to get away. While Wuxian was distracted by Xioahei, Fengxi went to an underground parking lot and activated the Domain, which soon grew to cover multiple city blocks. Once Xiaohei was safe, Wuxian returned and began to attack Fengxi inside the Domain, but it was in vain. Since Fengxi had complete control of the Domain, none of Wuxian’s attacks could defeat him. Fengxi blocked the Domain to stop any other elfins from getting inside and stopping him, and was close to defeating Wuxian. However, Xiaohei managed to teleport inside the Domain using his own spatial-type powers. As Xiaohei was the rightful owner of the Domain, he managed to steal it back from Fengxi, and obtained its powers. With Xiaohei at his side, Wuxian managed to stop Fengxi, and he was completely defeated[1].

Fengxi captured by Xiaohei and Wuxian

Wuxian captured Fengxi. Stealing his Domain could have killed Xiaohei, and Fengxi's betrayal weighed them. Wuxian told Fengxi and Xiaohei that humans and elfins had to coexist, that neither could destroy the other. Fengxi mocked the idea, saying that hiding would never equal coexistence. Wuxian was surprised at his resolve, but told him that he could use his time in the Guild to reflect over things. Fengxi, however, had other ideas. He had reflected enough. This time, he had no intention of leaving his home[1].

Fengxi created a forest of trees around him, destroying his own body. Nature engulfed him, and the buildings around him, creating a forest in the middle of the city[1].

Personality[]

At first glance, Fengxi is kind and watches out for Xiaohei. He is protective, not hesitating to defend him against humans. However, he harbors bitterness. Though humans amused Fengxi at first, he soon realized that they brought too much destruction and grew bitter and angry. When he took Xiaohei in, he had an ulterior motive but did not plan to harm him. He was committed to his plan, fully believing that it was the only option and was unwilling to live in secrecy any longer. He did not want to bow down to humans who only damaged the land. He was not afraid to do what it took for his cause, even at the expense of others. He is stubborn and prideful but he has given too much for his cause to back down.

Abilities[]

Fengxi is a wood-type elemental and also a spirit-type. He is capable of wood-manipulation and has been seen to erect entire rows of fully grown trees. He also possesses the ability Snatch, which allows him to forcibly take the powers of other spirits. His spirit form is a black panther.

Relationships[]

The Spirit Guild[]

Fengxi does not get along with The Spirit Guild and is unable to stand by their values and ideals. As he is not part of the Guild, they are on opposing sides. While The Spirit Guild tries to reach out to him, Fengxi antagonizes them.

Xiaohei[]

Fengxi seemed to genuinely care for Xiaohei but he had an ulterior motive. He was willing to kill Xiaohei to achieve his goal, even if it was not his initial plan. It is likely that Fengxi cared for Xiaohei and was genuinely fond of him but fell too far to stop. After the battle, he still apologizes to Xiaohei, suggesting that he was regretful towards how he had treated Xiaohei for the sake of his ideal domain.

Humans[]

Fengxi was amused by humans at first when they brought entertainment and lived respectfully in the forest. However, this soon turned to bitterness when they destroyed the land and forced the all the spirits out. He now despises humans and wishes that the spirits could walk freely among them.

Wuxian[]

Fengxi has some level of respect for Wuxian's power and warns the crew not to underestimate him. They seem to have some unexplored history. However, they have opposing views and when Wuxian asks Fengxi to stop and return Xiaohei's Domain, Fengxi seems to show some regret but nonetheless continues, saying that he has gone too far already.
